How can I describe this house and its surroundings with a few words? It`s almost impossible. It was our first time in Tuscany so we did not know what to expect, but the beauty of the surroundings struck me as we were getting close to the villa. Old, small picturesque towns painted in a colour palette of light orange, pink, peach... As we drove up from the road and entered the premises, the most wonderful smell of lavender surrounded us. When we exited the car, we were met with silence, except from the sounds of birds and bees. There are no other houses (but one) around. The only external sounds were from an old church a couple of kilometres away and every 15 minutes you could hear the bells ring once, I loved hearing those bells. The people in the neighbouring house was a quiet couple who we met outside as they were keeping the surrounding area around the house in wonderful order, including the kitchen garden which were bursting with all sorts of vegetables, in which we were allowed to help ourselves. It was a dream to send the kids out with a basket to get us some vegetables for dinner, and have them returning with broccoli, figs, tomatoes, to mention some. At arrival day we were met by Alessia, Jonathan and Ellis´representative. She showed us into the house, where beautiful flowers were set out, olives and honey from the garden and wonderful music set the atmosphere for the week to come. She was very helpful throughout the week and were always answering us right away and gave us helpful advice. And then the house…. Its difficult to describe the house without using clichés…. Each room had its own personality and wonderful views of the hilly landscape outside. And they are all equally beautiful. As Alessia gave us all info about the house, keys etc, the kids had been all over the house and came back to the kitchen from all angels – the house has several stairways, corners and plateaus and in the beginning we did not really find our way. It’s a very personal house and even though I never met Jonathan, I feel I know him a bit from all the pictures, the art, the music and all the books throughout the house. Jonathan were also keeping in touch throughout the stay, answering questions and being very available. The house is located close to “everything”, like the walled town Lucca, the village Lucchio 780 above sea level, and the beautiful canyon park in Bagni di Lucca, all worth while seeing. We simply loved this house and there is not one bad thing to comment on, on the contrary. We are definitely coming back.

It is difficult to describe how exquisite and delightful Fronzola is. The dramatic drive up is rewarded with a beautiful "wall" of lavender. The grounds are meticulously conceived and maintained, as is every aspect of the home. The restoration of the villa affords all of the modern conveniences and amenities of any contemporary residence with all of the charm of Tuscany. The furnishings are both comfortable and luxurious. And the setting! Not enough can be said about the breathtaking location of the spot. Dramatic, beautiful and unique, nestled in the hills - so special. Throughout our week long stay, our multi-generational group of 13 enjoyed an extraordinary amount of family and alone time, never feeling crowded; delicious meals prepared by warm and talented cooks and fascinating trips to local areas of interest. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We cannot wait to return!

A Slice of Heaven

Our family stayed at this stunning villa for two weeks during the end of May to the beginning of June, and we can honestly say it was even more gorgeous than the photos and the most beautiful home we have even been to. It was such a comfortable and welcoming villa, which was filled with amazing artwork. The home itself was perfect and slept 8 people extremely comfortably with each having their own bathroom. We enjoyed ping-pong, bocce, board games, puzzles, and DVDs, the hot tub, the pizza oven and the gorgeous dining room where we ate many meals. The gym was also a very nice feature. The property was beautiful, with lavender and rosemary growing everywhere along with olive trees and a fabulous vegetable garden. The pool was where we spent a lot of our time, as the views are nearly unparalleled. Upon our arrival, Alessia, the house manager and concierge, whose services were invaluable, greeted us. She made sure the house was well stocked with food when we arrived she helped us book excursions and restaurant reservations. Simonella, the housekeeper, was a gem and even brought us delicious pastries! This was a once in a lifetime vacation that our family will treasure forever.

We cannot think of anything that was not perfect!

We spent a week in this wonderful house. Beautifully situated with a stunning view and a fabulous interior. Many beautiful places to visit close by, but all you really want is to stay in the property and enjoy it. Jonathan is a great host and gave us a lot of information about the area. It's just a short drive (30 minutes) to Lucca witch is a beautiful town to visit. The service was great. We were met by Alessia hwo takes care of the service in the house and she helpt us with all practical details. We really thank Jonathan and his family for this week and would love come back. Others will praise the villa and its environs, and we would concur. Our greatest praise, however, will be of Alyssia and Simonella, who were more than helpful. Alyssia readily assisted us with a late arrival in the rain, and always responded to our questions. Simonella not only kept us neat and organized, she was a delight to have around, a lovely woman. We cannot think of anything that was not perfect! Thank you Jonathan and Ellie for providing such a classy environment!

We were blown away

Finally I'm writing to thank so much for renting out your incredible Italian home. It's taken me awhile to process our special time we had there with our friends from around the world , quite simply we were' blown away'. On arrival your home bought tears to our eyes, we were expecting it to be beautiful but it was over and above that. Your staff were professional, very helpful and a pleasure to meet. While we had plans to do plenty of days trips etc we found we just wanted to stay and soak it all in, reading , swimming, cooking, plenty of talking, long lunches in the courtyard, walking to the village etc we were all completely under villa Fonzola' s spell! We had lots of laughs down in the local village meeting your local butcher, shopping at the supermarket and daily coffees and of course pastry treats... it definitely was a highlight of my 10 week stay in Italy. I'm sure you will hear from us again as we are very keen to return to the villa sometime in the future. Take care and thank you again for sharing your beautiful home.

I cannot recommend this gorgeous villa highly enough. My husband and I, our three adult children and their significant others (group of 8 adults) spent a truly magical 2 week vacation using Villa Lavanda as our home base. The setting is spectacular with views from every part of the villa and the grounds. The house is full of beautiful art work, wonderful books, a sound system to enjoy from all over, a well stocked kitchen, a gym, and so much more. Almost every bedroom has a private bathroom. Despite our large group, we had many bedrooms unused! One of the nicest aspects is the wonderful balance of places to gather together and places to hide out and be alone. There is an amazing outdoor pizza oven, a hot tub, tons of fresh fruit and vegetables growing in the garden and on the hillsides. There are olive trees and grapes growing in the vineyard - this is truly paradise on earth! And the lavender... it is so beautiful and smells wonderful! Our biggest issue with Villa Lavanda was making ourselves leave to go exploring the lovely towns and cities in the area. But we did, and enjoyed our day trips to Lucca, a walled city about 40 minutes away that is my new favorite Italian city, to Florence, to Cinque Terra and other great spots. If you're lucky enough to spend time at Villa Lavanda, you will never forget it and dream as I do, of the day you might return!

Paradise

We are 8 adult women who spent an incredible week at Villa Fronzola. The villa is so much more than one would expect from a rental - it is a home, lovingly appointed and with exquisite taste. It includes everything one could want, and more. Alex and Ellen, our own culinarians, were so impressed with the kitchen, the pizza oven, and the gardens that provided many fruits, vegetables and herbs, we thought they would never leave to come back to the states. Stunning Villa, Perfect Vacation Spot

My family (10 people total) stayed in magnificent Villa Fronzola for a week this spring, and I cannot possibly put into words how gorgeous Fronzola is. The villa itself is perfectly laid out for a large group - lots of private nooks and areas to give everyone some space, combined with a few huge rooms to gather together for meals and relaxation. The villa is beautifully decorated with stunning art in various media and styles, and the property surrounding the Villa is perfection. The pool is clean and refreshing and you can enjoy beautiful views of the tuscan mountains while you take a dip. And the hot tub is a perfect way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Fronzola is within a 2 hour drive of many of the wonderful Tuscan attractions (Florence, Lucca, Chianti, etc.), and the village of Bagni di Lucca (above which the villa sits) is absolutely charming. The villa and the property are beautifully maintained. A cleaning woman came every other day to clean. The property manager was very easy to reach and extremely helpful with recommendations and reservations, etc. We took advantage of some of the recommended services (we had local chefs come in to cook us amazing Tuscan dinners 2 nights, and we had a pizzaiolo come one evening who made delicious homemade pizza in the pizza oven in the courtyard). The love and care with which Fronzola is maintained is obvious, and the privacy and tranquil setting are unmatched. I highly recommend renting Villa Fronzola. I am counting the months until I can return to the villa for my next vacation!

This place is special and unique

My wife and I stayed in this incredible villa two times. We loved our first stay so much [we were guests in a group with five other couples celebrating a wedding anniversary] that we recruited a different group of six other couples and returned the following year. Both stays left us raving to friends and encouraging them to rent the villa. The villa has so many special features is it difficult to decide which should be at the top of the list. 1. A beautiful salt-water swimming pool, perfectly situated to view the surrounding countryside and cool off on hot days. 2. A huge kitchen with an abundance of utensils and supplies that is perfect for preparing meals with all guests participating without feeling crowded. 3. A brick pizza oven next to the outdoor dining area, making it so convenient to pop the pizzas out of the oven and onto the plates of the diners. 4. A wonderful herb garden right outside the kitchen door. 5. Grape arbors, fruit trees, and berry bushes to pick and enjoy in season [we were there late August]. 6. A dining area in front of a huge arching window overlooking the countryside. 7. Available chefs who prepare dinners that are incredible. 8. Beautiful rooms adorned with art and precious objects to admire. 9. Great bedrooms, some with bath ensuite, making for privacy and quietness. 10. Solitude and isolation from the bustle of the world, yet not far away from interesting towns with restaurants, shops, markets. 11. Lots of advice from the caretaker/manager/housekeeper crew. This place is special and unique. You will enjoy it thoroughly and have many joyous memories to cherish.
