Spectacular!

We had a wonderful week at Villa Fronzola. My only regret is that we did not spend 2 weeks! On the drive in our guest said "It's even more beautiful than the pictures." We had a group of 13 and the house remained spacious, affording everyone privacy as well as inviting spaces to spend time together. The house is so comfortably and personally appointed that it felt like we were in our own home and not a rental. We had several cooks in our group and kitchen was fantastic. We all fit and all the equipment was there to make anything we wanted. The herb garden was charming and delicious. Even though the weather was a bit chilly during our stay we did have a few swimmers in the gorgeous pool. It was hard to resist. The staff was so helpful as we planned our trip and when we were at the Villa. They were very responsive to any questions and kind about our terrible language skills! The location is perfect for us. We could spend many days exploring Lucca but also enjoyed the smaller town of Barga and some further away places such as Cinque Terre and Siena. It was always a treat to come home to Villa Fronzola at the end of the day. I am missing my cappuccino in the hot tub as I write-

The Art Collection

I just spent a week at your beautiful home in Tuscany with Robin and Tony and what an amazing experience. The initial drive finding your home was an adventure but what a treat to be dropped into paradise for a week with great wine, olive oil, honey, and to my great surprise, a world class art collection! As Alessia was touring us through the entire home my jaw was on the floor—each room so beautifully curated. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your home with us. It was truly a magical week that naturally went by too fast.

Sheila D. said... Paradise Localita Fronzola, Bagni di Lucca, LU, 55022, Italy Date of Stay We are 8 adult women who spent an incredible week at Villa Fronzola. The villa is so much more than one would expect from a rental - it is a home, lovingly appointed and with exquisite taste. It includes everything one could want, and more. Alex and Ellen, our own culinarians, were so impressed with the kitchen, the pizza oven, and the gardens that provided many fruits, vegetables and herbs, we thought they would never leave to come back to the states. Others will praise the villa and its environs, and we would concur. Our greatest praise, however, will be of Alyssia and Simonella, who were more than helpful. Alyssia readily assisted us with a late arrival in the rain, and always responded to our questions. Simonella not only kept us neat and organized, she was a delight to have around, a lovely woman. We cannot think of anything that was not perfect! Thank you Jonathan and Ellie for providing such a classy environment!

There were nine of us altogether. Everyone had a fabulous time! The pool is absolutely beautiful. The Villa amazing. A little off the beaten track but I deal for a getaway. We had drivers for dinner two of the nights. Then we had the chef and pizza two other nights. It was a wonderful time!

A Terrific place

This is our second time staying at villa Lavanda (Fronzola) The first time with 14 friends this time with family. It is such a magical place where you can be with everyone or there are places to just get away alone. Jonathan goes out of his way to accommodate your needs. We've rented a number of villas in Italy, the UK and ireland. This one stands out as best among them. I'd recommend staying here for any group of eight or more. You can get a special rat for just eight even though it will accomodate fourteen easily. it's just a really great place.

Our Perfect Wedding Week

Villa Lavanda is simply incredible. My husband and I searched online for a Tuscan villa to host our very small wedding and accommodate 12 people comfortably for the week. After looking at what seemed like hundreds of villa's, we finally found Villa Lavanda and knew it was the place we wanted. Jonathan was extremely helpful in answering all our questions throughout the planning process and thanks to his help, everything went perfectly. Alessia, the manager, greeted us upon our arrival and showed us around the villa. We grew more and more excited as we went from room to room. One friend even teared up because she was so excited she was going to get to stay for an entire week and enjoy the home and surroundings. The views of the countryside are as stunning as the photos show, but what we didn't realize was how impeccably the house would be decorated with fantastic artwork and furniture. So many people were commenting on certain art pieces they saw in their bedroom, in one of the bathrooms, etc. After we got over our initial happiness of how happy we were that we chose this property for our stay, we settled in and grew even happier with how comfortably our party of 12 fit there. There was no shortage of spaces (indoors and outdoors) to get away and relax if anyone wanted some private alone time. The house was also fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking and we loved spending evenings cooking together as a group. The garden was in full bloom while we were there and we were told to pick anything we wanted. Most of our meals consisted of what we found in the garden and the fresh picked tomatoes were amazing. Alessia mentioned the option to have someone come and make pizza's for us in the outdoor pizza oven so we booked this for our second night there. I highly recommend doing this as the pizza was delicious, the experience was fun and he was willing to accommodate all of our eating restrictions, including some needing no dairy and/or no gluten. The only complaint I have about our stay at Villa Lavanda is that it was too good. :) We had planned to do several day trips, but not all of them happened as we were content to just stay at the villa and enjoy the pool and surroundings. It's truly a magical place and our stay there was a dream. I can't thank Jonathan and Ellie enough for allowing others to stay and enjoy their beautiful home. We are already talking about our next visit there and can't wait to make it happen.

How can I describe this house and its surroundings with a few words? It`s almost impossible. It was our first time in Tuscany so we did not know what to expect, but the beauty of the surroundings struck me as we were getting close to the villa. Old, small picturesque towns painted in a colour palette of light orange, pink, peach... As we drove up from the road and entered the premises, the most wonderful smell of lavender surrounded us. When we exited the car, we were met with silence, except from the sounds of birds and bees. There are no other houses (but one) around. The only external sounds were from an old church a couple of kilometres away and every 15 minutes you could hear the bells ring once, I loved hearing those bells. The people in the neighbouring house was a quiet couple who we met outside as they were keeping the surrounding area around the house in wonderful order, including the kitchen garden which were bursting with all sorts of vegetables, in which we were allowed to help ourselves. It was a dream to send the kids out with a basket to get us some vegetables for dinner, and have them returning with broccoli, figs, tomatoes, to mention some. At arrival day we were met by Alessia, Jonathan and Ellis´representative. She showed us into the house, where beautiful flowers were set out, olives and honey from the garden and wonderful music set the atmosphere for the week to come. She was very helpful throughout the week and were always answering us right away and gave us helpful advice. And then the house…. Its difficult to describe the house without using clichés…. Each room had its own personality and wonderful views of the hilly landscape outside. And they are all equally beautiful. As Alessia gave us all info about the house, keys etc, the kids had been all over the house and came back to the kitchen from all angels – the house has several stairways, corners and plateaus and in the beginning we did not really find our way. It’s a very personal house and even though I never met Jonathan, I feel I know him a bit from all the pictures, the art, the music and all the books throughout the house. Jonathan were also keeping in touch throughout the stay, answering questions and being very available. The house is located close to “everything”, like the walled town Lucca, the village Lucchio 780 above sea level, and the beautiful canyon park in Bagni di Lucca, all worth while seeing. We simply loved this house and there is not one bad thing to comment on, on the contrary. We are definitely coming back.

It is difficult to describe how exquisite and delightful Fronzola is. The dramatic drive up is rewarded with a beautiful "wall" of lavender. The grounds are meticulously conceived and maintained, as is every aspect of the home. The restoration of the villa affords all of the modern conveniences and amenities of any contemporary residence with all of the charm of Tuscany. The furnishings are both comfortable and luxurious. And the setting! Not enough can be said about the breathtaking location of the spot. Dramatic, beautiful and unique, nestled in the hills - so special. Throughout our week long stay, our multi-generational group of 13 enjoyed an extraordinary amount of family and alone time, never feeling crowded; delicious meals prepared by warm and talented cooks and fascinating trips to local areas of interest. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We cannot wait to return!

A Slice of Heaven

Our family stayed at this stunning villa for two weeks during the end of May to the beginning of June, and we can honestly say it was even more gorgeous than the photos and the most beautiful home we have even been to. It was such a comfortable and welcoming villa, which was filled with amazing artwork. The home itself was perfect and slept 8 people extremely comfortably with each having their own bathroom. We enjoyed ping-pong, bocce, board games, puzzles, and DVDs, the hot tub, the pizza oven and the gorgeous dining room where we ate many meals. The gym was also a very nice feature. The property was beautiful, with lavender and rosemary growing everywhere along with olive trees and a fabulous vegetable garden. The pool was where we spent a lot of our time, as the views are nearly unparalleled. Upon our arrival, Alessia, the house manager and concierge, whose services were invaluable, greeted us. She made sure the house was well stocked with food when we arrived she helped us book excursions and restaurant reservations. Simonella, the housekeeper, was a gem and even brought us delicious pastries! This was a once in a lifetime vacation that our family will treasure forever.
